Entertainment Blog Presents Top 10 Games for 2017

Coming to PC? For sure

When's it out? Unknown

One of our favorite games of the show—maybe our favorite—came as a total surprise. In Hunt, five two-player teams set out on the same map to hunt down demons, and maybe each other if there's loot to be stolen. Die, and your character is gone for good, although you can inherit some traits. Just thinking of playing it makes us tense, which is helped by it being one of the most visually arresting games at the show. Read Steven's preview for more.

Definitely not coming to PC

Ubisoft, Sony, and Nintendo brought out the most console exclusives, as usual. Ubisoft announced the physical toy-based Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Just Dance, and the like. On Nintendo’s side, they seem to have partnered with Ubisoft to make Mario XCOM, though the biggest response on Twitch only required two words followed by a number. And then, of course, there’s the new Mario game, called ‘Screw you, Mario is a taxi now.’ Plus, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Kirby, Zelda, Yoshi, Pokemon—the whole cast was there, enjoying its snug platform exclusivity and brand power.

Sony had the weirdest conference of the show, beginning with hanging bodies accompanying a trailer for Days Gone. It didn’t really grab us, though there was some good hiding in bushes, a favorite feature of PlayStation games these days. Speaking of hiding and crouching and whatnot, they showed a Horizon: Zero Dawn expansion and Uncharted: Lost Legacy. And finally, a slate of PSVR games and the news that Shadow of the Colossus is being remade for the PS4. At one time we would’ve thought we’d never be able to play these games on PC, but we might at some point in the future—kind of—with the PlayStation Now streaming service. Though they still wouldn’t technically be running on our PCs, it’s step closer to PC gaming sucking in every interactive thing in the universe.

Entertainment Blog  checks every game at E3 2017

For years, we had an E3 tradition: writing an article about an imaginary PC gaming press conference where big announcements were made for our beloved platform, just like they are for the consoles. Then we decided to actually put on our own show, which has become home to some of the biggest PC announcements of the year. XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, Age of Empires, Battletech and many more graced the stage this year.
But E3 2017 has also been good for PC games across the show. From EA to Microsoft to Ubisoft, a whole lot of the games on display are coming to PC right alongside consoles. Here's our list of every game shown at E3, including what we know about its release date and PC outlook.
Entertainment Blog AnthemComing to PC? Yes!When's it out? Fall 2018
While Mass Effect: Andromeda was brewing at BioWare, the multi-team studio was also building something new: Anthem, an open world sci-fi shooter which, on first impression, has Destiny, Warframe, and Titanfall 2 flavors. While we expect BioWare-style storytelling, the first gameplay trailer emphasizes co-op monster shooting in a thick rainforest, with jetpack flight to boot. This is not your standard BioWare game. The choreographed trailer doesn’t tell us the full story, but with Anthem releasing in mid to late 2018, we expect to see more soon.
Entertainment Blog AnthemDestiny 2Coming to PC? Later than consoles, but yepWhen's it out? October 24, 2017 (beta in August)
You may roll your eyes at the first game’s botched launch, but more than three years later the appetite for Bungie’s shared world sci-fi shooter is more ravenous than ever—as evidenced by the fact that the E3 line to play it had to be capped three minutes after the show opened. Based on our own multiple hands-ons (watch James play in 4K at max settings above) it’s clear the PC version will be the definitive experience, making the slight delay a small price to pay. To get the skinny on the new subclassess, balncing weapon archetypes for PC, what’s being done about story loose ends and much more, read our exclusive interview with director Luke Smith. Then consider splashing for a new GPU. Nvidia are bundling the game for free with new 1080s, and you’re going to want to see this one at its best.
Entertainment Blog AnthemStar Wars: Battlefront 2 Coming to PC? YesWhen's it out? November 17, 2017
Battlefront players clamoring for a campaign are getting their wishes this time around, as we learned a few months back. E3 gave us our first look at Battlefront 2 gameplay footage, and it's predictably just as ridiculously pretty as the first game. More importantly, its new class system and weapon variety promise to make it a meatier game, based on our first hands-on.
Entertainment Blog AnthemA Way OutComing to PC? Yes | YesWhen's it out? Early 2018
A unique co-op game from the creator of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It's always co-op, with the perspectives of its two characters always presented in splitscreen (though you can play online or local). The story-driven game starts with life in prison, but you break out somewhere along the way. According to Sam and James who played it, A Way Out is "like a David Cage game, only co-op and good."
Entertainment Blog AnthemThe Last NightComing to PC? YesWhen's it out? 2018
From developer Odd Tales and publisher Raw Fury comes a 2.5D cyberpunk sidescroller that looks to be part Blade Runner, part Oddworld. The environments are grimly beautiful, and it's certainly got a moody feel to it. There are some important questions about its themes, though—more on that here.
Entertainment Blog AnthemAssassin's Creed: OriginsComing to PC? You betchaWhen's it out? October 27, 2017
Since this Assassin’s Creed installment has had a longer development period than most, there’s a lot riding on it. And overall, the promise of a more RPG-leaning, Egypt-based open world adventure does sound appealing. It’s still unclear how much of a re-invention Origins will be, but Ubisoft seems to have (rather symbolically) done away with the icon-strewn mini map in favor of more RPG-like UI elements, according to our friends over at GamesRadar. Oh, and you have an eagle companion—a very promising feature for eagle enthusiasts worldwide.

Entertainment Special Games Updates :

" God of War director explains why Kratos lost his blades and got an axe - it's kinda deep "

"God of War E3 Trailer"

As far as ass-kicking goes in God of War, Kratos clearly hasn't lost a step from the last time we saw him. But the game-play footage shown at the PlayStation E3 2017 press conference re-confirmed that he has lost his trademark ass-kicking implement: the Blades of Athena/Chaos. The wicked chain-swords were at the heart of Kratos' whipping, twirling, combat style. But now Kratos wields a relatively modest (but still magic) axe instead. Cory Barlog explained in an interview why it was important to separate Kratos from his signature weapons.

"We were experimenting with lots of different weapons, lots of different things," Barlog said. "I think we wanted to create an identity, because to me the blades represent a very dark time in [Kratos'] life. They are not just a weapon to him. They are his scarlet letter. They are the marking that somebody tricked him, that he made a bad deal, that he made a mistake. Powerful, but I think also powerfully charged in its emotion. So I think of part of him wanting to move forward is being able to [leave the blades behind]."

The gods of Olympus gave the blades to Kratos, and he had what you might call an unhealthy relationship with Ares and company. The blades represented years of deceit and servitude, and lots and lots of killing. Story aside, putting the blades aside was also a new start for the designers.

"It gives us the freedom to experiment with what we really want to do. I think the magic moment with the axe, honestly, was when a programmer and a combat designer was like, 'I have this cool idea', Barlog said. "Right away the magic of throwing the axe, having it stick anywhere in the world, and then recalling it, and then kind of playing around with that, and realizing you can hit people with it, you can throw it behind them, move in front of them, recall it and hit him in the back.

"So it's like, gasp a shield guy's standing in front of you! You lob the axe over him and he's like, 'Ah, I got you!' And then you call it back and hit him in the back. It's just phenomenal. It has so much potential for play that we just realized, alright, this has gotta be something we're gonna do."

Relationship Goals

I’m online all day, every day, and so I end up seeing a lot of the #RelationshipGoals memes that float around social media. I’ve seen #RelationshipGoals that range from very cute to sickeningly exaggerated (most are the latter, to be honest). In the beginning, this relationship goals meme was realistic – pictures of happy couples holding hands while walking in the snow, cuddling and watching a movie together, or sleeping with an adorable puppy. But at this point, relationship goals have become completely over-the-top. From long, dramatic declarations of love on an Instagram picture to cuddling in positions that seem extremely uncomfortable, some relationship goals make me want to roll my eyes until forever.

At this point, it feels like those #RelationshipGoals pictures or actions that get all the likes and shares aren’t even authentic – it feels like couples are doing this stuff to get attention and 15 minutes of Internet fame. Does that sound cynical and bitter? Maybe, but I can’t help but feel like people care more about looking like #goals than actually being #goals. I oftentimes find that the couples who feel the need to post about their love every day for all to see are the couples who are trying to over-compensate for something (maybe their actual unhappiness).

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for a little over five years, and while our relationship isn’t perfect (no relationship is), I am very happy with it. To me relationship goals isn’t about being entangled in his arms and legs while I watch him play video games or reading a sappy  status he wrote – my goals for our relationship are genuinely feeling happy together. And we do that! So, that said, here are some things you should REALLY strive for when dating someone. Because you can make any relationship look amazing online, but that doesn’t mean it truly is – these things do, though. Here are 20 important relationship goals you actually want:

1. Hearing your BF’s phone go off and not feeling the immediate urge to look at it.

dont care

With all of the ways someone could cheat on you these days, it’s understandable to be nervous about what your S.O. is doing on their phone while you’re not looking. Or, it’s normal to feel that way when you first start dating. But once you’ve established trust, you should no longer spend time being concerned about who that text they just got is from.

2. Being able to go a few days without seeing each other and not feeling totally freaked out about it.

hug

You know you’re in a good place when you can go a few days without seeing your S.O., and although you miss each other, it’s not the end of the world. This past year, I went to Spain for a week without my boyfriend. I missed him and he missed me, but we didn’t spend the whole time trying to talk or crying about how much we missed each other. It’s so important to be able to have your own lives and do your own things sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s also important to experience things together, but if you’re too dependent on each other, that’s not good.

3. Getting into a fight and realizing that fight doesn’t automatically mean you’re going to break up.

new girl

When you first start dating someone, getting into an argument with them makes you feel all sorts of nervous about whether or not the relationship will end because of it. After you’ve been together for a while, you realize that little arguments every once in a while are normal and aren’t the end of everything. That sounds depressing, but it’s actually where you want to be.

4. Going out with your friends and not being bombarded by texts from him asking what you’re doing.

destinyschild

You know what’s not cute? Trying to hang out with your friends during a girl’s night but having to field 20 different texts from your boyfriend who is freaking out because he’s not with you. You know what IS cute? Having a fun night out and then texting your BF afterwards to chat.

5. Not feeling the need to text each other 24/7.

texting

Speaking of texting, you should WANT to get to the point in your relationship where you two don’t feel the need to be tethered to your phone. Again, it’s important to do your own thing without being totally dependent on each other.

6. Being able to be alone with his mom for more than five minutes without wanting to run and hide.

miley

Once you’re able to hang out with his family even if he’s not around, you know you’ve made it.

7. Hanging out but just sitting next to each other doing your own thing and feeling comfortable.

cute couple

There’s something really nice about a hangout sesh with your boyfriend that involves you reading a book while he watches his show. It’s nice to be able to do your own thing while still being together. Of course, every single hangout shouldn’t be you guys doing this, but you know what I mean.

8. Not feeling like you have to have sex every time you see each other.

dancing

Sex is great, but it’s not the only part of a relationship. It’s nice to get to a point where you don’t feel like you HAVE to do it every single time you see each other – you do it if you want!

9. Leaving your phone laying around because you know he/she isn’t going to go through it.

cell phone

Worrying about your boyfriend going through your texts because he’s jealous? Not cool. I see a lot of  posts like, “when he doesn’t have a  on his phone” or “when he asks you to check his new text instead of checking it himself.” To me, this seems more like a #goal for the girl to be able to go through his stuff when she wants than a #goal of trust.

10. Being able to tell  you think someone else is cute without them freaking out and vice versa.

laughing

Hi, newsflash: attraction to others does not magically disappear when you enter a relationship. You’re still going to think other people are cute, and the same goes for your significant other. Once you can stop acting like noticing someone’s looks is cheating, you’re in a pretty good place together.

11. Laughing during sex because something weird AF just happened.cute You know what’s weird? Sex. Funny, embarrassing things happen, and if you can laugh about them with your partner instead of feeling the urge to run away, you’re in a good place.

12. Taking care of each other when one of you is sick. sick You know you’ve reached #goals level when your boyfriend is happy to take care of you when you’re not feeling well.

13. Feeling comfortable enough to be totally gross around each other.fart
If you still have to pretend like you don’t fart or poop or burp because lol you’re a *~*girl*~* that stinks. Being able to be “gross” in front of your partner indicates a level of comfort and trust that is amazing to have.

14. Talking about future plans without wondering if they’ll actually happen.talking
It’s so nice to discuss your plans for a vacation in a year without wondering to yourself, “Will we really still be together in a year?”
15. Having a whole conversation in inside jokes that no one else understands.
inside joke
One of the cutest relationship goals is getting to that point where you have enough inside jokes to have entire conversations together that other people don’t get.

16. Not even having to ask if they’re coming with you to an event because you know they will.
summer

You were invited to a party? Your S.O. will probably be with you. Got a plus one to a wedding? No need to stress about that. Your significant other doesn’t have to do EVERYTHING with you, but it’s nice to know they probably will if you need them to.

17. Or when his family assumes you’re coming to something without even asking.

Isn’t it so nice when his family or friends just assume you’re going to be around because they’re so used to you being there?
18. Finding TV shows you binge watch together instead of going out.next

Going out and being social is great! But it’s nice to also be the couple who can spend an entire weekend in bed watching the same TV show and being cozy together.
19. Not feeling pressured to write about how great your relationship is on social media because you don’t need to kiss
There’s nothing wrong with letting the world know how you feel about  . But when you feel the need to make a spectacle of your relationship every single day, it seems like you’re over-compensating. It seems like it’s too much. Relationships are about two people, not about the attention two people can get by making others jealous.

20. Getting excited to see each other even after a long time of being together.excited

Even after years of dating, you should still feel a little bit of excitement about getting to see your boo. That’s a good sign!

Which of these relationship goals do you want the most? What did I forget to include? Let me know in the comments.
